More Colorado Cheap Wedding Money Saving Tips

Have Two Receptions.  A formal wedding reception for family and family friends only, then a barbeque picnic or potluck party for more casual friends. What if you rented the 80-person, affordable budget reception hall venue at Foothills Chapel, and then threw a back yard party for your friends the next day? Everyone could come to the wedding, and your friends could have a lot more fun in jeans and t-shirts at your informal “friends” reception. You could save $10,000 just with this one change!

Find A One-Stop Facility. If you simply rent a church or hall for your wedding, expect to pay over $1500 for flowers, hundreds of dollars for music, hundreds more for archways and other decorations. At Foothills Chapel, all of this is included. We also offer budget tuxes, photographers, invitations, and caterers.

Get Married Any Day But Saturday. Rates are highest on Saturdays, somewhat lower on Fridays and Sundays, and cheap weddings can be had on weekdays. This is certainly true at Foothills Chapel. Our Tuesday wedding special (above) is the most affordabled budget wedding ceremony deal of all!

Find a Place that lets you Bring in Your Own Food, Drinks and Service People. Ideally, a wedding ceremony venue should be able to offer recommended vendors and leave you free to find your own. You can save thousands of dollars bringing in food from your favorite restaurant. Buy from the liquor store and your tab will be 80% less than at a catering facility.

Have a Money Dance. People pin money onto the bride and groom (or the money is collected by the best man) for a chance to dance with them during the reception. It raises a few hundred dollars and gives you a chance to chat with more people.

Recruit help from family and friends.  Make your own decorations, flower arrangements, bridesmaids’ dresses, food, etc. Borrow wedding-related items from friends who have recently been married.  Rent an elegant car and ask a friend to be your “limo driver” for the day.

Have a Last-Minute Wedding. With a little flexibility, Foothills Chapel can almost always accommodate last-minute couples. Last-minute discounts abound from wedding service professionals and venues (including ours).

Honeymoon Savings. Have a U.S. wedding and honeymoon; the dollar is weak and international resorts aren’t the bargain they used to be. If someone in your circle has a timeshare or second house, they may be happy to give you a week at their place for free as a wedding gift. Have your destination wedding or honeymoon in Colorado. Penny Wise and Pound Foolish?

Be careful you don’t make your wedding day stressful by cutting back on everything. Hire a professional photographer for at least the first 90 minutes. Amateurs don’t know how to organize family formals, and can take a lot of time shooting poorly lit pictures. Asking a friend to officiate a wedding is often a mistake, because they often make major mistakes their first time around. It is “slave labor” to ask a relative or two to cook up dinner for 75 people. Go to a good restaurant and get trays of food for $8-9/person. It’s much less work than cooking everything from scratch!
